Our Story
Our cooperative began 6 months ago. We began with 6 women. Over time, we were able to offer more women a fair job, so that now we have 12 women working in the cooperative. Our mission is to continue to offer competitive jobs to indigenous women. Most of the women are single mothers with 2, 3 or 4 children. We also offer work to older women who can’t otherwise find a job, as well as women with disabilities. First, we are here to create a brighter future for the women of the cooperative. But we have a passion to see their children receive a better education and an even brighter future.
Even if the women can make products in their own homes, they typically have a difficult time finding a place to sell the products. Many shop owner offer them extremely cheap prices and the women have little other choice. This is a sad situation for the women, not only because the pay is low, but also because a large amount of work goes into making each product by hand.
